Most young men were still in bed Saturday morning, but not the ones that are determined to learn what it takes to get to the next level, compete and get a great education.
Well, the founder of ‘Elite Prep Sports’, Arturo Freeman (former South Carolina Gamecock and Miami Dolphin), is determined to have a program that will do just that… teach young men what it takes to be great in the community, in the classroom and on the football field. That’s why he invited Keeping Dreams Alive Foundation Directors (and Mentors) Ryan Stoutt and Glenn Stoutt to his Camp & Combine, so that his Student Athletes could take part in their unique program called ‘Playing the Recruiting Game’.
Freeman’s love for these student athletes, his passion to give back and the lack of quality camps and combines compelled him to form the ‘Elite Prep Sports’ Youth and High School Combine & Showcase for middle schoolers all the way up through seniors in high school. Before going out on the field each of these student athletes spent 45 minutes learning what is required to not only play at the next level but to also finish at the next level and beyond.
The morning mentoring session started with Glenn Stoutt talking about the realities of the recruiting process and the misconceptions most student athletes have with how the process really works along with the top 3 things a College Coach looks for when recruiting an athlete; #1 Character (not characters), #2 Grades/Test Scores, #3 Work Performance/Physical Attributes.
The focus of the conversation was on Character and how social media can make or break a $150k college contract.
Then Ryan Stoutt, former college QB and now KDA Mentor and Director of Broadcasting HSPN SPORTS, talked about what it really takes to have an impactful dialogue with a College Coach, ‘what to say’ and ‘when to say it’ and just as important ‘what not to say’. Ryan also explained how important it was to have a relentless work ethic and the positive impact it would have on their recruiting process.
PTRG and the KDA Family look forward to continuing working with Arturo Freeman in all of his ‘ELITE PREP SPORTS’ YOUTH AND HS COMBINE & SHOWCASE.
